There are those that preach hatred for large chain retailers and think we should all go back to mom and pop stores.
Unfortunately, ma and pa are terrible at logistics.

- ransom1538 3y agoYes. They also wouldn't sell you 20 boxes of toilet paper for a hurricane.
- ericmay 3y agoEh I think it’s moreso we have an over abundance of the former and the latter are dying out. A healthy economy is going to have a mixture.
- pcdoodle 3y agoI'd rather not have a single point of failure and some diversity in policy.
- amluto 3y agoEven big stores can struggle in truly large weather events. I was once in a somewhat isolated area when the nearby city had a massive snowstorm that shut everything down for two weeks. Every store except Walmart ran out of food. Walmart was okay not because of any particular logistical magic but because they resupplied from a different direction. The lesson is you actually want supply chain redundancy.
