- namaria 3y agoEmotional responses aren't invalidated because they don't magically solve the problem that originated them. Not understanding emotional responses, on the other hand, has a very real and damaging effect in society. It fosters political polarization, ableism, harsh 'tough on crime' policy making, poor mental health, etc.

- s1artibartfast 3y agoUnfettered and easily triggered emotional responses is poor Mental Health, and a root cause of most of society's ills. I'm not saying don't have emotions, but that people should have perspective and consistency. Being easily triggered and emotionally directed by every shifting breeze, is the problem. This is what drives political polarization and bad policy making. Like a judge that follows their emotions, sentencing someone to death for jaywalking one day and releases murderers the next day.
