- zokier 3y agoDid you miss the little detail that elephants, buffalo, and whales were hunted to the brink of extinction to a degree that the populations probably will never fully recover, and same happened with logging of ebonies and other valuable tree-species, both exotic and domestic. Even back then the demand far surpassed sustainable extraxtion levels, and human population has since grown by almost an order of magnitude. There is nothing trivial in these problems.
