If you track enough sharks for long enough eventually you’ll find a pair that seems to exhibit synchronous movement patterns…?

- 0xfaded 3y agoThis is valid when digging for patterns in historical data, but the chances that future data would randomly correlate for this specific pair are low.

Not necessarily unless the behavior is yet present in its biology. The research suggests that they are more complex animals than the simple image shown in the films and this is a valid point. The animals are traveling together on purpose apparently. We could track enough humans for a long long time and still we wouldn't watch humans melting into one big sporangium, or growing feathered wings.
