Which arm gets the Covid-19 booster may make a difference, study shows
- jrjarrett 3y agoDon’t most people get injections in their non-dominant arm? That’s how I do it, remembering as a kid that when I’d get shots, my arm always hurt for a few days.

- ekianjo 3y ago> When you go to get your newly updated Covid-19 booster this fall, you might want to choose the arm the vaccine goes in carefully. "When" not "if", the level of propaganda is as strong as ever
- chrisandchris 3y agoNot a native in english, but german. If I translate with deepl (my personal translation being the same) it translates into "Wenn Sie diesen Herbst [...]" which is roughly the same as "if" (it talks about future, both cases could still happen).
- rcbdev 3y ago"If" == "Falls" while "When" == "Wenn" The difference in meaning becomes apparent in: "It's a matter of when, not if"
- lttlrck 3y agoThe target audience is clear from the article title. Taking umbrage at the first word is hilarious.

- jjk166 3y agoThis study [0] has a very small sample size and they found a significant difference only in a few of the variables they measured. 11 fewer individuals who got the booster in the opposite arm had CD8 T-cells 2 weeks afterwards than those who got it in the same arm. They say that whether participants got the booster in the same or opposite arm was randomly assigned, but the odds of of the final ratio of same-arm to opposite arm happening by chance are just 4%, and the further odds of getting the ratio for the subgroup that had their CD8 T-cells measured given the full study's participants is 4.4%, for a combined probability of just 0.1%. This would seem to suggest there was some confounding variable that caused participants who got the booster in the same arm to preferentially drop out of the study or otherwise be removed from the dataset. For the full study group, the same-arm participants were on average younger and more likely to be female, the breakdown for the sub group of interest is not given. Again, this suggests some confounding variable. While this warrants further study, I am unconvinced. - stonecharioteer 3y agoAre people still taking Covid booster shots? I ensured my parents got them, but since I'd just recovered, the doctors recommended waiting for a while and then I never got around to going to get it. I don't know anyone in India going and getting booster shots. Isn't the pandemic mostly over?
