Question: How do projects like these sustain themselves? This project is being developed from 2 years and I see no sources of revenue. Do the developers get any form of compensation for creating this?

OnlyFans mostly. Except for the CEO who can photosynthesize enough energy to sustain himself.

The vast majority of open source projects are undertaken and maintained as a hobby, or as a side project related to other paid work. You have to consider your market as well, literally nobody is going to pay money to use a terminal widget library in 2023.
