- pfdietz 3y agoAs I have pointed out, the radioactivity in uranium ore is higher than the radioactivity in coal, when comparing the amount of ore and the amount of coal that needs to be mined to produce a given amount of energy in today's power plants.
- hgomersall 3y agoNuclear plants don't tend to burn the fuel into tiny particulates and send them into the atmosphere.
- pfdietz 3y agoThey liberate decay products into the environment when the uranium ore is processed. Coal fired plants aren't putting ash into the atmosphere either these days, in the US. Bottom ash never went into the air, and fly ash is efficiently trapped in electrostatic precipitators and bag houses.
