If this is to be trusted:
"Only around 2% of all reported motor vehicle accidents involve a fire truck."
It seems not that many, but this too was (for now) just one case, so I don't think we can conclude anything.
The biggest question from me though is that of liability.
I'm kind of ok with driverless vehicles provided there's a human being that's liable if the vehicle kills someone, as happens with driver-full vehicles.
And liable means may be found guilty of manslaughter and go to jail, not pays a fine.
