This list of excuses is depressing: https://www.probuilder.com/utopia/5-biggest-barriers-3d-construction-printing https://www.probuilder.com/utopia/5-biggest-barriers-3d-cons...
- jaclaz 3y agoIf the idea is that of building a one storey circular shed roughly 5 meters in diameter (which is what essentially current 3d building is capable of) we might sit down and compare costs against other building techniques (and I strongly doubt that the 30-40% savings touted is achievable, particularly in countries where the workers wages are not particularly high). If instead the idea is to use 3d printing to build actual homes, the technology is simply not there to do much more than erecting the (not insulated) walls, that represent (of course it depends on countries and local building standards) a small percentage of the building costs, likely less than 10%.

- polski-g 3y agoI don't see in rebar in the construction process. It will crack and fall apart in a short time.
- jelliclesfarm 3y agoOf course, there is rebar in 3D printed constructions. They also use proprietary concrete/cement.
- Shawnj2 3y agoAmerica has more developed systems so there’s less need for innovation. If you think the US is bad Japan still uses fax machines in common usage
