As Covid cases rise, we're unprepared for the mass disabling event of long Covid
- j0hnyl 3y agoLong covid sucks for sure, but also seems to have a fairly broad definition. Some folks talk about it like it's permanent covid, but don't most people get better after a few months?
- neongodzilla 3y agoWhy are you relying on "some folks" for medical information? Anecdotal bullshit is a large part of why COVID has been such a tedious shit show. Stop relying on what you heard and just LOOK IT UP from a legit source. And stop repeating misinformation.
- j0hnyl 3y agoLook at the definition of long covid from a legit source of your chosing and come back and tell me I'm wrong. Even the article cites it at "a few months to a few years". By definition, if you feel a little woozy a few months after infection, you have long covid. Nothing I've said is misinformation. - infinitezest 3y agoThe absolute shit show that was the brunt (thus far) of the covid pandemic has me wondering which of these "legit sources" deserve my trust. This is not to say that they are all malicious but when looking at all of the the expert opinion doled out during that time, there seems to be a really high occurrence of failure.
- haterforhire 3y agoWell this is somewhat terrifying, the idea that long COVID (as opposed to “post COVID”, as described in the article) is actually something like an early stage neural degenerative disorder. Yeesh.
- porkbeer 3y agoI thought multiple studies found 'long covid' to be psycbological, not physical..
- dragonwriter 3y agoThere are probably lingering psychological impacts associated with COVID, but rather extensive physiological impacts are documented as well. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41579-022-00846-2 https://www.nature.com/articles/s41579-022-00846-2
- haburka 3y agoHow is covid surging? There are 58 cases in the 7 day rolling average for sf. There are 3/4 of a million people in SF. More people are fucking in robotaxis than getting covid
