I started making the transition, and then I realized that it makes me think of each eneloop as a device that I need to think about and maintain. How much life does it have left in it? How can I measure that? How can I remember which is which? It's been a few years, so I couldn't tell you exactly what happened that made me think this way. But some devices worked with brand new eneloops but not as well with older ones. Also, my camera flash dies (e.g. drops from usable to unusable) much more rapidly with eneloops. I missed a few one-of-a-kind photo ops and then decided the flash only uses alkalines now.
