i worked at a data center operations company many, many years ago, and at that time i built a server and stuck it in the data center and got a really great ($50/month) deal on it. the company has been acquired since then, but they still keep billing me the same rate for the box! i share it with a few friends, and we are running our personal websites on apache and also hosting our DNS (bind) and email (postfix) and spam filters (spamassassin). i SSH in to read my email in neomutt. we run those base services as system services, but recently we're running some stuff via docker-compose files. here's my personal docker-compose stack using traefik to proxy to some personal infra, e.g. my own syncthing and my blog: https://github.com/igor47/services https://github.com/igor47/services
