I haven't had a single employer that didn't blatantly lie to me during the hiring process. Infuriating stuff such as saying it's company policy to pay for training, and then refusing to do it. So my rule of thumb is that if it isn't in the contract, it's bullshit. But it aggravates me nonetheless.
