Tachyum Prodigy Chip Now Has 192 Universal Cores
- eigenform 3y agoWill this machine ever not be vaporware?
- RecycledEle 3y agoI doubt this will ever be a successful product. Increasing die size 20% can massively increase cost because it affects yield. Increasing core count 50% does not increase performance by 50%. I suspect increasing die size by 20% to increase core count by 50% is going to hurt the price-to-performance ratio. This implies incompetent management.
- rbanffy 3y ago> Interestingly, unused L2 caches from other cores can be repurposed as a supplemental L3 cache. IBM will want to have a word with them, I guess.
