Ah yes the thing that even if accomplished at 100% compliance at the global level (at the cost of trillions of dollars) would reduce warming by a paltry 0.003C or something.
> > In contrast, Exxon has entrenched the use of oil on a global scale. The company is part of a collection of organizations that have prioritized short-term profits over long-term environmental sustainability
Exxon is a descendant of Standard Oil, Inc. Founded in Cleveland in 1870. It's now 2023, muh short term 150 years, it's been an amazing ride of quality of life and human progress, I am here because of fossil fuels, and so are you, so you should be more respectful towards those who put the steak in your plate.
> > Exxon's history is closely linked to environmental degradation and harm.
8-fold increase in world population during Standard Oil/ Exxon existance, global GDP through the roof, avg. age at death jumping from 45 to 80, child mortality reduced from 25% to 0.5%. All this stuff also thanks to Exxon and fossil fuels but you don't mention it. What has Tesla done beside enriching wannabe techno dictator Musk?
> > they are contributing towards a future worth living in.
That is what Exxon 1870-2023 did. Tesla workers are enriching Musk via useless climate goals which are only propelled by a combination of virtue signaling politics and cult of personality and not grounded in reality, nor practicality.
> > because I witnessed what it takes in Iraq to acquire the oil used in vehicles actively contributing to the destruction of this world
We don't do that anymore thanks to fracking, made possible by the effort of many people, but guess who contributed the most, that's right. The good people over at Exxon Mobil.
You have to learn to separate the company from the executives. Executives at Exxon are sociopaths like all billionaires, but the company (and what they sell) are instrumental for our life as we know it.
If Exxon disappeared overnight you'd have civil war by the end of the month, if the same happened to Tesla you'd have the manbun and the big latte crowd throw a tantrum on twitter
