- JoeyBananas 3y agoJesus.

- DoesntMatter22 3y agoSeems like what I've learned about getting rich as a crypto currency founder/billionaire/whatever is that you are going to die shortly after. Seems not worth it.
- klardotsh 3y agoEnvy of sudden riches is not a uniquely crypto problem. Unfortunately countless large-sum lottery winners meet extremely unfortunate, often fatal (or sometimes worse-than-death), fates as well, at least in the US.
- raincom 3y agoCan you give some examples from the US?

- DoesntMatter22 3y agoThe vast majority aren't turning up dead and in pieces, some after saying there are people after them. Half of them aren't even that well known where as a lottery winner is broadcast. People got rich at Google and Tesla but you don't see them turning up dead.
- thejazzman 3y agoSHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
- Tao3300 3y ago> found stuffed in a toilet by plumbers who had been called to clear a blocked drain That's a pretty bad day at a dirty job.
- kylecazar 3y agoCrypto wealth seems to come with exposure to unsavory people. Or maybe it's a chicken/egg thing. Either way this is grisly.
- Melting_Harps 3y ago> Crypto wealth seems to come with exposure to unsavory people. Or maybe it's a chicken/egg thing. Hard to deny on frequency alone as this part struck me as noteable and to your point: Peev is the second crypto king to be found dead in brutal circumstances within a month. Body parts of Fernando Pérez Algaba were found in a red suitcase dumped in Ingeniero Budge, Buenos Aires, on July 23 after going missing five days earlier. But in my view this is the real take away: Bulgarian media reported that Peev had helped Valchinov with crypto investments, suggesting that the killing had been motivated by money. For all we know this was and remain solely about money, and if that's your argument I have a long exhausted list of people willing to an commit an array of atrocities and crimes for 'money' including but not limited to Warfare.
- artyom 3y agoLocal here. For the first murder (the one in Buenos Aires), the victim was initially portrayed by the media as a "crypto entrepreneur", too, and I guess that was copied over and never revisited as media usually does -- but as facts were emerging it turned out that he was just a very careless con artist that tried to run a scam with the wrong kind of people. Shocking, I know.
- Melting_Harps 3y ago> Shocking, I know. I've been in this space for 13 years next month, nothing shocks me anymore; it is why I find TV and Movies entirely boring by comparison. Fact is stranger than fiction. With that said, yeah that makes sense; you know as well as anyone how bad the financial system is in Argentina, add another imbecile promising the moon with his new token/NFT/yield scam and it's just expected to happen. Personally, I always thought Brock Pierce (that kid actor from Mighty Ducks who is also believed to be a pedophile) and company were going to end up swimming with the fishes in Puerto Rico after he tried to coax his way in there and be seen as a white knight. That was the last thing anyone expected but there, but there he was talking about how he was there to rescue everyone and how only he had the answer. I don't wish ill on anyone, but some people have it coming and nothing can spare them from their stupidity or greed.
- gumby 3y agoAnd here I thought SBF had eluded the marshals on the way to NY last week.
