I get it that at some point (long time ago) Apple traded colors for resolution and had a highest resolution monochrome screen among the generic computers. That allowed it to occupy a desktop publishing niche. I get it that for certain amount of time iPhone had (has?) the best photo / video capabilities among the smartphones. But overall the Apple's market success is not something that I can easily understand. iMac success in particular is a mystery to me.
