As an American, the worst treatment I've had reentering the country was in Seattle, so as always, YMMV. In any event, ESTA and really everything they put foreigners through is an embarrassment and everyone responsible for it - from Senators and Representatives who voted for these provisions to the people who are working on the border, should be ashamed of how they are treating people who visit our country.
