This is an incomplete summary since:
> "the company that owns the platform responded to the requirements of the security authorities that called on the company to disclose the entities that leaked citizens' data."
They didn't only remove channels but gave user data to the Iraqi Government.
- dizhn 3y agoI don't see the latter part of the sentence you quoted on that page. I can see why you get that impression but the Telegram side specifically says they did not disclose any information. I think the government side is trying to save face by saying Telegram complied, without explicitly stating what they did.
- Krasnol 3y agoThe article refers to a Reuters article where this quote comes from: https://www.reuters.com/technology/iraq-unblock-telegram-app-platform-responded-security-requirements-statement-2023-08-12/ https://www.reuters.com/technology/iraq-unblock-telegram-app... What you "think" doesn't have any value to me. You are some anonymous person on the internet who might be just another Telegram fan. Meanwhile, a reputable source states what I said above and since it's not the first time Telegram works with Governments, I'd say it is very plausible that they did so.
- ashwagary 3y ago>What you "think" doesn't have any value to me. You are some anonymous person on the internet who might be just another Telegram fan. No need to go off topic. This is from your own linked article. "We can confirm that our moderators took down several channels sharing personal data. However, we can also confirm that no private user data was requested from Telegram and that none has been shared."
- Krasnol 3y agoThis is the same statement they gave after Spiegel exposed them working with German feds: https://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/apps/telegram-gibt-nutzerdaten-an-das-bundeskriminalamt-a-0e4d3fcb-8081-4b87-b062-db412bbc294b https://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/apps/telegram-gibt-nutzerdat... and therefore is quite worthless.
- ashwagary 3y ago>and therefore is quite worthless. You are making an assumption that their statement is false without evidence. Just making that clear.
- Krasnol 3y agoI quoted evidence that they already worked with other governments. It is you who has no evidence that the statement by the Iraq Government is false. Just making that clear.
