As someone with formal education in both literature (including lots of analytical essay writing ) and computer science, this resonates strongly with me and is a great addition to my toolbox for thinking about code.
I'm wondering how useful it would be to deploy among my colleagues who don't have similar backgrounds.
Have you tried that?
- dimal 3y agoNot yet. I was working up to it at my last job, but I was laid off. What I’d love to do is something like John Ousterhout’s software design class. He admits that he based the format on an English writing class. People would write code, then their classmates would read it and make comments and then they’d revise it. I’d love to give this a shot in the real world. If you’re up for discussing this, I’d be happy to talk about it more. My email is on my profile.
