Unit Tests Are Overrated: Rethinking Testing Strategies
- abbadadda 3y agoThis is a bad, and incorrect, definition of what unit tests are: > Unit testing (the process of checking small pieces of code to deliver information early and often)
- xwowsersx 3y agoI was following along and agreeing with much of what was stated here, then the article just...ended. There's no concrete advice here, that I could detect, beyond the very vague and amorphous 'embrace a more holistic testing approach' which feels like a bit of a Motte-and-bailey in the end, no?
- willio58 3y agoUnit tests have their place. They are not a full solution for testing, but they never claimed to be. Unit tests help you confirm isolated aspects of your code, which is helpful in many cases. You still need other types of tests too, but I would not say unit tests are "overrated" in any way.
