Milk-V Meles (yet another quad core C910 RISC-V SBC)
- zamadatix 3y ago"Buy Now" -> "Coming soon" God damn it. As far as boards you can actually get your hands on I think the VisionFive2 is the most interesting. Wi-Fi 6, PCIe M.2 slot, a GPU, 2 Ethernet. Not sure what else has become actually attainable lately though.
- brucehoult 3y agoVisionFive 2 is certainly a solid choice, and having been out the longest is the best documented and supported. It is absolutely normal for such products to be announced some months before they ship, and indeed for pre-orders to be taken months before they ship. For example, the VisionFive 2 went up on Kickstarter in August 2022 and I received my pre-ordered boards (in the first dozen orders made) in early February. > Not sure what else has become actually attainable lately though. - Pine64 Star64. Same JH7110 SoC as VisionFive 2, but PCIe brought out to a PCI slot rather than M.2. Shipping since May. - Pine64 PineTab-V. Same SoC. Tablet (i.e. with battery and touchscreen in a proper robust case) with dockable cover / keyboard / trackpad. Shipping since July. - SiPeed Lichee Pi 4A. TH1520 SoC (same as Milk-V Meles) with quad 1.85 GHz OoO C910 cores, very comparable to Pi 4. Beta version shipped in May, production version in July. - Beagle-V Ahead. TH1520 SoC. Announced mid-July. Was in stock at traditional major corporate distributors such as Farnell and Digikey immediately. And many others in the oven, including three from Milk-V alone: - Mars: JH7110 SoC, similar to VisionFive 2, Star64 etc - Meles: TH1520 SoC - Pioneer: SG2042 SoC, same C910 cores as the TH1520, but SIXTY FOUR of them instead of four, 64 MB L3 cache, four channels of DDR4, 32 PCIe Gen 4 lanes.
- snvzz 3y agoVisionFive2 upstreaming effort's results have been amazing[0] so far. They've been doing better than any ARM SBC I own, and I own a lot of them. 0. https://rvspace.org/en/project/JH7110_Upstream_Plan https://rvspace.org/en/project/JH7110_Upstream_Plan
- zamadatix 3y agoIt's absolutely normal to announce first. Usually one expects the announcement before the "buy now" button instead of the other way around though. At least in the case of a pre-order announcement clicking the pre-order button doesn't give you false hope.
