Xitter Broke Nitter Again
- known 3y ago[dead]
- andyjohnson0 3y agoMaybe time to end it? Twitter is no longer a well behaved service, and its only going to get worse.
- lemper 3y agodefinitely agree. there are many other ways to connect to people.
- bhouston 3y agoYeah, I refrain from posting on Sh/X-itter as much as possible. The combination of Threads + Mastodon is pretty decent.
- zokier 3y agoX hasn't been well-behaved as long as Nitter has existed, it's crappiness is arguably the raison d'etre for Nitter.
- rvz 3y agoUnofficial third-party apps, sites, etc will always be playing the cat-and-mouse game and will always be behind whatever change the first party service makes. By default, Nitter has always been in a losing position in both maintenance and catching up in implementing the missing new features years before the Twitter acquisition. This also isn't unique to X / Twitter.

- elcritch 3y agoBummer, Zedeus just got Nitter fixed up like 2 weeks ago. Seems they keep turning off apis.
- azangru 3y agoXitter is pronounced as outhouse, right?
- dspillett 3y agoThat is how I've been saying it. I think usually where X is used as the initial latter the pronunciation is more like zh or zj than sh, but close enough.

- zamalek 3y agoThis has me thinking: given all of this, are public American officials therefore allowed to use Xitter? Presidential etc. speech is supposed to be archive-able, and placing it behind not only a sign-in, but also a $42069 (or whatever dumb figure Musk has dreamed up for API access) fee is problematic.
- mgiannopoulos 3y agoFacebook is not easily archiveable either, is it? Somehow it seems like some questions (like about browsing without a login) are only being made about Twitter.
- phyrex 3y agoFacebook lets you export all your data iirc. I haven’t tried it but I’d assume that would work for that case
- schnable 3y agoThere are so many ways POTUS tweets can be archived irrespective of general Twitter/X policies.
- PedroBatista 3y agoIt's bad enough for your project to depend on a social media company, now imagine the company it's also run by an unhinged man-boy billionaire that's bored every 5min.. Alternative front-ends for big web sites are always a thankless job. At least everybody involved knows how these things end. ( I hope they know.. )

- numpad0 3y agoI'm starting to wonder if the real value prop of Twitter, subconsciously recognized and agreed by users, is that some suckers are paying out of pocket for it, as opposed to the community having tractions and such and such valuable aspects.
- bronikowski 3y agoI finally removed processing of two Xitter-to-RSS (a once great function of nitter) feeds from my crontab, I know when I'm not welcomed.
- ricc 3y agoTook me a while to recognise that Xitter is a portmanteau of X and Twitter. How is it pronounced then? "Sitter"? "S*itter"?
- _bz2r 3y agoXitter, where you post your xarts
