Show HN: User Persona Generator
I hate talking to people.
So I made ChatGPT do it for me.
- hliyan 3y agoThe downside of AI-generated user insights are obvious, but that said, I presented my company's domain to it. The problems, pain points and goals it gave me were spot on.
- not_makerbox 3y agogood starting point. of course, combining with interviews is x10 more helpful
- mtmail 3y agoYes, it worked for my industry, too. It ignored pricing (customer might be looking for a cheaper alternative)
- not_makerbox 3y agoyou mean in Barriers? good feedback
- alias_neo 3y agoI'm not sure whether a good thing, or a bad thing, that it doesn't seem to pick up on ridiculous ideas but I suggested that my business sells sweets, and my target audience is thirsty people; It rambled on about refreshing beverages but didn't take "my business" into account at all.
- not_makerbox 3y agosorry sometimes chatgpt is dumb pls try with more details :)
- janwillemb 3y agoTo me it shows only an empty template after the 10s
- Eddy_Viscosity2 3y agoYeah me too. Nothing to see.
- not_makerbox 3y agorefresh pls :)
- not_makerbox 3y agoRefresh the page pls! Still can't fix this bug haha
- OJFord 3y agoSame, but it rendered on refresh.
- mellosouls 3y agoThis is great on a first look, nicely presented! Indicative pricing for future use will be a useful addition.
- not_makerbox 3y agothanks!
- OJFord 3y agoSeems quite tightly coupled to the inputs, which maybe is good, you get what you want perhaps without the work of writing it out more fully? I'm not the target audience, but I think I expected it would 'add' more, more context/'insight' about the industry than just what I entered with more words. You could practically fit to template without an LLM, just having a 'need to leverage' whatever user says the company does, etc.
- not_makerbox 3y agokeeping it simple for people who only get a slight idea about their future product / audience good feedback though, thanks!
- marclou 3y agocool, another GPT wrapper
- not_makerbox 3y agosorry, busy printing money, saas boy
- Jeannen 3y agoWow, that's a clever idea! Will try it when I'm back
- not_makerbox 3y ago(I wrote it from my burner account)
- wildermuthn 3y agoGot blank results. Interesting idea. I’ve had long conversations with ChatGPT about product ideas, but the experience felt more like a sounding board than talking to users. If something like this works, it could be a game-changer for startups — the ability to “talk to users” before such users exist would empower founders to iterate before building.
- not_makerbox 3y agorefresh pls! I guess this bug need to be fixed after all, thanks for nudging me
- kmac_ 3y agoStill blank after refresh.
- not_makerbox 3y agoI am a dumb no-coder then, no excuses try again from scratch pls!
- tetris11 3y agoAlso got blank results
- rmbyrro 3y agoThis is actually quite good. Definitely better than I expected. Although the output looks obvious, it actually helped me realize that my ideas were disorganized. It did a great job organizing them. Thanks for publishing it. What are your plans? Are you looking at addressing other needs in the same founder space?
- not_makerbox 3y agothanks for kind words! we plan to launch 3-5 more free tools like this and at least 2 paid tool with more holistic approach. like generate marketing strategy (target audience, positioning, marketing funnel)
- mgkimsal 3y agoThe emails seem to go to spam in gmail.
- not_makerbox 3y agodamn that's sad pls say i am not spam, thank you
- mgkimsal 3y agoI did, but I suspect multiple emojis coupled with some bolded text doesn't help.
- not_makerbox 3y agogotta put bread on the table
- churnek 3y agoThis is crazy. Solid implementation as well.
- not_makerbox 3y agothanks!!
- withinboredom 3y agoMy "actionable persona" results were from the perspective of my persona, not my product. Mine was a b2b idea, but it gave me actions from the perspective of my customers -- b2c (my customers).
- not_makerbox 3y agochatgpt is drunk, pls try again with another description!
- deleted 3y ago[deleted]
- devmor 3y agoGave it Industry A and Industry B, it got them mixed up and gave me a persona that worked in both.
- not_makerbox 3y agosorry about this!
- afranchuk 3y agoThe persona I generated is a Christmas tree light company targeting nuclear physicists. The results were surprisingly cohesive! However, there is a bug: it seems to insert a newline after every punctuation, including after "Dr." (the persona was "Dr. Thomas").
- not_makerbox 3y agohaha, yes, I have the rule to split sentences into paragraphs. ChatgptHeimer is real
- chris_st 3y agoI really liked the results I got -- very cool!
- not_makerbox 3y agonice, thank you!
- smcleod 3y agoSarah is a middle manager who thrives on the traditional office environment. She believes that face-to-face interactions and formal presentations are essential for her success. Sarah feels a lack of relevance and struggles when she's unable to book meetings and ensure that her ideas are heard through PowerPoint slides. Pains • Difficulty in capturing attention and conveying her ideas effectively without in-person presentations • Fear of being overlooked or overshadowed by more adaptable colleagues Goal Sarah's ultimate goal is to regain a sense of relevance and control in her role as a middle manager. Benefits • Increased visibility and influence within the organization • Improved ability to capture attention and convey ideas effectively • Reinforced status as a trusted and valuable middle manager Sounds about right from what I’ve seen :,)
- not_makerbox 3y agoI am so sorry but I hate Sarah for being a middle manager
- anon73044 3y ago"This meeting could have been an email" incarnate.
- smcleod 3y agoJesse Jesse is a resourceful and daring individual who is looking to establish a successful meth business. With concerns about getting caught, Jesse has decided to operate out of a caravan in the desert, believing that this unconventional approach will give him a competitive edge. Problem Jesse is constantly worried about getting caught while selling meth. This fear and uncertainty create significant challenges for him in establishing and growing his business. Pains • Fear of law enforcement discovering and shutting down the operation • Potential risks and conflicts with rival cartels • Dealing with the pressure and stress of operating in a clandestine manner Goal Jesse's ultimate goal is to create a highly profitable and sustainable meth business. He aims to establish a solid reputation within the market and achieve financial stability. Benefits • Greater financial independence and success • Recognition and respect within the criminal underworld • Ability to secure a higher social standing and lifestyle Trigger Jesse's decision to operate out of a caravan in the desert is primarily driven by a recent close call with law enforcement. This event has made him acutely aware of the need to adopt a more covert approach and minimize the risk of detection. Barriers • Concerns about the effectiveness and reliability of operating out of a caravan • Potential difficulties in obtaining necessary resources and supplies in a remote location • Lack of knowledge or experience in successfully running a business of this nature Yep, checks out.
- rmbyrro 3y agoHave you just found another way to bypass GPT's "safety" measures?
- smcleod 3y agoPerhaps, I suspect that it did correlate my input to Breaking Bad as it named the character Jesse. If not - that’s one hell of a coincidence.
- not_makerbox 3y agolmao!
- jimmyechan 3y agoFounders are already great at making up personas that aren't quite accurate or don't really exist, but that sound real. This is mostly because of an incomplete understanding of the persona or not talking to users enough. This product could be a good way to get started or even lay out a framework for a potential persona, but the highest value work is in fleshing out these personas by actually talking to users.
- not_makerbox 3y agothanks! that's what we are trying to achieve
