Companies usually don't have all their parts aligned or even functioning properly. And you cannot change that. Your work isn't just the product, it is navigating an imperfect structure to achieve what you need to, despite the fact that the imperfect structure is the one contracting the product/service, and is (mostly unwittingly) standing in the way of that. It's not fair, it's not fun. It is what it is.
