The old Musk image of visionary genius trying to save the world by transitioning it to space green clean energy and futuristic technology? It inspired millions of higher class liberals to part with their hard earned cash to buy an under-baked, poorly put together (and until recently expensive) EV.
The new Musk image is relying on a much smaller, much poorer demographic, to buy a highly experimental vehicle, whose allure will disappear in smoke the moment it's out and people see how bad it is (in terms of range, handling, reliability, safety, and so on).
It's a fun theory for sure, but the Cybertruck will never sell in volume, so I'd say it's more likely that what we see is what it looks like: a conman suffering a heavy case of the Peter Principle, uncontrollably unravelling before our eyes.
- 8jef 3y agoThe reply of a true disenchanted believer. Elon Musk, from visionary genius to conman. You must have skin in the game.
- dingosity 3y agomeh. i worked for the first x.com as a contractor. i got paid, but it took years for the company i worked for to get money out of musk. from my perspective, he's been a con man for at least 25 years.

- dingosity 3y agoHunh. Just sort of thinking, yeah, they both own broken social media sites.
- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoI’m not describing my opinion, but the dominant public opinion. This is even supported by data that shows most people today sell their Tesla due to disappointment in Musk. Weird but a fact.
