- kramerger 3y agoWait, how did they go from we dont care if die from heat or being shoot at to this?
- talldatethrow 3y agoMaybe if I pay you $170k I expect you to hydrate yourself correctly via an insulated water bottle, get adequate sleep and possibly even exercise so that walking in a hot van doesn't strain you. I sold cars after college. My company didn't buy me insoles so my feet hurt less. I didn't hound them to pad the carpet on the showroom more, or give me rubber mats to stand on outside so my feet didn't hurt. I took care of my own needs. PS, I actually saw a car salesman pass out one day in the heat outside. He drank heavily the night before and was extremely hung over.
- JRKrause 3y agoHow is paying out-of-pocket for an insulated water-bottle / better shoe insoles any different than paying a fee for a union to collectively negotiate these things for you? In both cases you, the worker, exchange money for improved work conditions. In the second case you are simply paying comparatively more money for larger returns.
- talldatethrow 3y agoBecause it takes people's freedom away to choose how to spend their own money. Plus it obviously adds another layer to siphon off your money too. You get hot, so you want a ventilated truck. My feet hurt, I want a rubberized floor. My friend can't park so he wants 8 cameras on the truck. Mary has a bad back so she wants a hydraulic seat shock absorber. Eric doesn't eat at home in the morning so he wants more breaks so he can keep his energy up. And on and on. When we could have all just kept more of our money, had extra money come to us instead of 6 different upgrades to the truck, and so on.
- mathisfun123 3y agoI think probably the most astounding aspect of this weird diatribe is that you're flaunting being a self-sufficient car salesman, ie a literal parasite on consumers.
- talldatethrow 3y agoObviously I had way longer to think about this than you, but if you think cars sell themselves, you should really go into the car business! You could make a killing saving out on paying a dozen people $100k a year average to sell your cars. Maybe just put them on a website with a buy it now button. I bet no one has ever thought of that!
- mathisfun123 3y agoYou're not too bright are you? >but if you think cars sell themselves... You could make a killing saving out on paying a dozen people $100k a year average to sell your cars This all still argument in the service of the dealer not the consumer. I'm well aware cars don't sell themselves. You know who doesn't mind that at all? People buying cars. Lemme put it in coloring book terms for you: street drugs don't sell themselves either but we don't consider drugs dealers as providing a public service.
- talldatethrow 3y agoI'm no genius genius, but to show you how far off you are about gauging internet brightness.. UC Berkeley MechE grad, almost perfect math sat, top 0.2% salesperson nationwide for a major brand, and I now have a lifestyle business of a b2b saas I wrote as my FIRST project, self taught, full stack basically. I'm not Einstein, but if you think I'm not very bright, you're going to be heavily disappointed by the 95%+ of people.
- mathisfun123 3y ago> perfect math sat Only the smartest people flex their SAT scores (on the internet)
