Children are people and like any people they can tell when you are having an inauthentic interaction. Just be a normal person to your kids, don’t try to “hack” them. Secondly, I really enjoyed mathematics at school, but it was always way too easy for me. If my parents had followed this advice I would have never got any praise at all, which would have been extremely demotivating. Praise your kids for their efforts, and also praise them for their abilities.
