These things have always been around. I guess the Internet and 3d printers means that people who weren't inclined to read a book and use a few hand tools now know about them. What the article doesn't say is that while they do work, they don't work very well. Semi-auto converted guns are prone to jam when using an auto sear. More reliable to use a crank on the trigger, which are also illegal and have been around forever. The real problem in this story, which is only included at the end is this Caison was not the intended target. In late June, Hakeem Collette, 17, pleaded guilty to battery with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He will be eligible for parole in two years. Seriously? Only 10 years and possible parole in 2. The only reason it didn't result in the death of the victim was due to incompetent. 17 or not, this is a laughable sentence. Where is the justice for the family? Where is the warning for others that there are meaningful consequences?
