It's super interesting how many things that sci-fi predicted would be ubiquitous and essentially got right because they seemed obvious -- and then this; something that was predicted with that same "obviousness" and it didn't much happen.
- lancesells 3y agoI think it's because in a lot of use-cases async text is so much better for all parties. You can lose nuance but someone can send me an email or text message and I can answer it from anywhere at any time. I can be on a run, I can be at the park, I can be in bed half asleep, whereas video requires a lot more. I'm not suggesting being on call 24/7 is good or healthy, but video calls are just not as easy. I don't want fast and cheap but I do want easy.
