An opinion piece with some flawed reasoning. It ignores the effect of the US containment policies which probably are the cause of a fair portion of the Chinese economic underperformance. And it also formulates autocracy equals lack of economic growth as some kind of economic law which is just not true: The Chinese economy grew plenty (and received plenty of US investment) after the Tiananmen Square massacre.
