Maybe someday journalists will find their balls and stop blaming everything except the elephant in the room: Humans cause most wildfires. Less than 1% of fires in Hawaii are due to natural causes. There is a non small probability of this being either negligence or plain environmental terrorism.
The trend is consistent with what we found in other places. Valencia: 97% less wildfires during confinement. Galicia: only 11% of fires can be assigned to natural causes.
So the really interesting question here is not what, is why. Maui was not an isolated event. We have Sardinia. We have Sicily, and Rodhes, and Corfu, and Canary Islands, and Cyprus, and Algarve in Portugal, and Canada... A lot of the very touristic locations that are a big source of income in several occidental countries are being attacked by a wave of wildfires in full touristic season, causing serious damages in the economy and image of this countries... and some of them were deliberated

Environmental terrorism pursuing economical boycott or any other benefits. My guess is that this is as simple as that. Even in the middle of a dry spell, in a windy day, without a spark there is not fire.
