I do this with my mom because of how much she worries. A couple years ago, I sent her a message, "I'm OK, but I think I just totaled my car. Would you please come to [location of accident]? I'm going to need a ride home." She still freaked out, because she does, but I really did only have some bruising, and I did, in fact, total the car.
