Capitalism = slavery to the state. If you don’t have enough money you literally die of hunger and the system says it’s your fault.
Hitler was a devout capitalist.
Russia is a staunchly capitalist country.
All of the poorest countries in the world are capitalist countries.
People often lazily confuse specific ideologies and political theories with autocratic regimes and despots.
And before anyone says communism causes despots there have been more capitalist dictators and despots than you can count.

- pphysch 3y agoThe Nazi party was violently anti-communist, and relied on the support of powerful capitalists. "Socialist" in name only.
- thegaulofthem 3y agoSocialist != Communist Just as all the Hacker News fellated Democrat-Socialist utopias of current Europe are not Communist.
- romafirst3 3y agoThe Nazis were not a socialist party. Regardless of what Fox news tells you.
- nicbou 3y agoNext you will tell me that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is not democratic?
- mhoad 3y agoI’m begging you to please actually learn the real story so you don’t have to run around embarrassing yourself in the future. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazism https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazism

- rodoxcasta 3y agoThat, I always have difficulty with these types of replies. What should you do when someone, in a serious discussion, says that the Earth is flat, with a straight face? Are they mocking you? Perhaps mocking the debate at hand? Are they trolling? Or maybe they are just naive and don't know that they are embarrassing themselves? Maybe just treat them as a troll? But the thing is that when they appear just as some naive, maybe young person, the generous take would be to explain the ridiculous thing they are saying.. but I always feel so fool when I do that. Plus, I don't have the patience anymore.

- thaufeki 3y ago>Hitler was a devout capitalist. Is this tongue in cheek?
- romafirst3 3y agoIn that he was devout in any economic theory it was capitalism. Crony capitalism but capitalism. He literally made slaves work for private companies, you don’t get more capitalist than that.
- twirlip 3y agoThe German industrialists of the early 20th Century feared unionism, socialism, and communism. They backed Hitler and funded the Nazi party. In turn, Nazis enacted the Nacht und Nebel slave labor program, Lex Krupp, and allowed companies such as Krupp to take property from conquered nations.
- nicbou 3y agoNacht und Nebel is was not a slave labor program. It was the practice of making people disappear.
- twirlip 3y agoYou are right. Those not killed within a week's time were sent to to concentration camps. Many were forced labor (slave) and then moved to death camps.when they could no longer work. My apologies for being unclear.
- pphysch 3y agoOh I forgot he called his party "Socialist", that automatically disqualifies it from being de facto fascist or capitalist. /eyeroll
