Intel Wiring Up DisplayPort Alt Mode 2.1 Support for Linux
- FirmwareBurner 3y agoIt's funny how everyone was always harping on buying AMD for Linux but nobody acknowledges just how good consistent Intel has always been with Linux support since ..forever? Yeah, I know, Intel did a lot of shitty anti-competitive and anti-consumer stuff, just like any other big-corp in history with a dominant position, so everyone hates them, but on the Linux front they always seemed to deliver better than AMD and Nvidia.
- knewter 3y agoYes, but their GPUs were far lower performance
- FirmwareBurner 3y agoLinux users don't need much GPU performance to run OpenOffice and Firefox as neither did the Windows users who used their work PCs to fill in TPS reports in Excel.
- gsora 3y agoThey do for games, which now that Proton works so well are actually a reality.
- FirmwareBurner 3y agoYeah but we're not talking about gamers, which are minority of worldwide PC users both Windows and Linux. Most PC uses don't revolve around demanding games but productivity tasks, for which Intel graphic are more than enough. You don't need to get an extra Radeon GPU to watch Youtube and file your taxes.
