Large creature with 20 arms found lurking in Antarctic sea. It’s a new species
- lionkor 3y agoPhotos included! It looks quite creepy. Anyone who played The Forest or its sequel got flashbacks looking at those limbs. Sadly lacking info on how big it is.
- quantified 3y agoArms up to 8" long. Can wrap over a person's face pretty well. Sweet dreams.
- bemmu 3y agoFacehugger
- hulitu 3y agoAI can do wonders those days. Especially when you need more profits.
- tamimio 3y agoI want to see an animation of it moving, or preying on something.
- hulitu 3y agoThey are working on it. The processors rendering it are quiet slow.
- southernplaces7 3y agoForce me to shut off my ad blocker before being able to view your site content? Nope, fuck you Miami Herald. A better link would have been nice for this curiosity. Here it is (lots of tracking but at least it doesn't block content because of ad blockers): https://gizmodo.com/antarctic-strawberry-feather-star-20-arms-discovered-1850730199 https://gizmodo.com/antarctic-strawberry-feather-star-20-arm... Edit: Also, to lower the drama a bit, it's part of a well-known genus that has five known species to it.
- didgeoridoo 3y ago> Researchers named the new species after the Latin word for “strawberry” because of the “resemblance of the (body) shape… to a strawberry.” When you’ve spent too much time in Antarctica and forgotten what a strawberry looks like…
- Pigalowda 3y agoRight? I was thinking maybe they were making a joke. Looks like some kind of skeletal spider cucumber to me.
- TheLoafOfBread 3y agoLooks like combination of jellyfish (shape) and insect (structure).
- euroderf 3y ago"It tastes like chicken!" -all octopuses
- karim79 3y agoOh no, Calvin really did make it to Earth. We are doomed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_(2017_film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_(2017_film)
