New York Times: The U.S. government should end its prosecution of Julian Assange

- genmud 3y agoI think it would be fair to stop prosecuting him if he stopped being an active adversary of the US. I’m a firm supporter of holding the US government accountable when they do bad things, however, Assange is most definitely not someone who is partial or somehow morally correct in his behavior. During his years of activity, he has been a willing conduit for a number of foreign intelligence services and has actively put his thumb on the scales to harm US interests. His closeness and willingness to launder FSB, GRU and MSS data stolen from western governments make him a legitimate target for the US government. He isn’t a hero like some people want to believe. Fuck that guy.
- 0cVlTeIATBs 3y agoSorry, this reads as resentment that Trump won and that Wikileaks played a part by putting up Podesta's emails. That is the one instance I've heard of Russian intelligence supposedly funneling data through them, posing as Guccifer, with a specific goal in mind. In what case have the Chinese supposedly used wikileaks?
- bediger4000 3y agoWhere do you get the "resentment that Trump won" from? I just can't make it read that way in my mind.
- up2isomorphism 3y agoIt is extremely funny these days to act like you represent the US government as funny as believing the US governments represents you. And you managed to demonstrate both.
