To the author: you should include a parragraph on the repo README explaining how pijul compares to git. Learning git kinda sucks, but once you learn it there's very little incentive to invest time in learning other version control tools. The extra features rarely justify the additional effort. Like I thought Fossil was kinda neat, but I still stuck with git.
