> According to Hashim's updated blog post, this doesn't reflect a policy change, but it was done "based on customer feedback" to make Zoom's policies "easier to understand.
Someone is wrong here. They say this isn't a policy change but rather a clarification to make the ToS “easier to understand” (how nice of them to dumb it down for us…)
But before it was updated, the Zoom article referenced by Ars [0] previously said [1] that they would be training AI models using customer content - as part of their new “Zoom IQ” feature - if the meeting owner consented to it:
> When you choose to enable Zoom IQ … you will also be presented with a transparent consent process for training our AI models using your customer content.
This wording is now gone and the screenshot of the consent popup has been updated.
So, previously they were very transparently planning to do at least some AI model training with customer content.
And now they say that they are not going to do AI model training at all, and strongly imply that they never intended to in the first place.
There is a real lack of attention to detail in how they've communicated about this topic.
I’m pleased that they’ve changed their terms, but I still get the feeling that they’re not being 100% transparent about this.
