Definitely at the beginning, but this is no longer the case in many parts of the world where charger coverage grew widely, newer cars are adopting Tesla's NACS as charging ports and Tesla opening their network to others. An anecdotal example from Sweden- there are no Tesla chargers available closeby for people in the big Stockholm metropolitan area.
