I wouldn't use Debian or Ubuntu as Docker base for this since they always ship heavily outdated software. Alpine as a base offers slimmer image but also updated tools and libraries, including GCC and Clang. Article speaks about GCC 10 which is prehistoric by today standards.

Can the dev environment and toolchain be affected by Alpine being musl-based?
