Wouldn't the fact that getting caught using a deepfake or something similar be politically damaging to your campaign sort of make this a bit moot?
In my opinion, the main problem is people from outside the official political campaigns using this sort of tech, and I am not sure how the FEC is going to limit that...

The republican front-runner not only tried to hold defense aid to Ukraine hostage in exchange for manufactured damaging info about his main political rival, when he lost he started a riot and attempted to seize power and destroy the democratic process in this country. Why do you think something as comparably trivial like using deepfakes would stop his voters from continuing to vote for their guy?
