They call it an "association" in the paper, which after reading[1] I'm not at all convinced isn't just showing a correlation between economic activity and antibiotic resistance. The paper doesn't so much as propose a mechanism. I wish science media would engage with the paper instead of just breathlessly interpreting it in the most click bait fashion.
