Ask HN: Would it be better to go back to the office?
So some totally subjective opinions from a point of view of job privilege (works indoors no heavy lifting)
- Working with a team that was all co-located has in my experience been the most powerful indicator of productivity. Additional power points for same physical room, clear business need and clear support for work, high levels of trust from executive level.
- post pandemic, it's rare the whole team is ever in same physical location (ie getting everyone to
go for lunch). Additional power losses are "if everyone is WFH why not build teams from people in different cities / countries.
- worse is overload of meetings - because less informal information sharing we need to organise a time to video call / phone, and then because more people on call you cannot be less formal and need to be careful with what you say so that hard stuff is harder to get around to discussing.
plus sometimes it's nice to leave your house and the washing behind. (privilege again I know)
