I’ll be honest. As an American (originally from 3rd world country) I have zero intention of traveling internationally.
Why would I? I live in the best country in the world. For tech, startups, lifestyle, food (i can eat any cuisine from around the world and access to amazing restaurants), hiking, etc.
The last place I'd visit is some authoritarian place.
- usmannk 3y agoIf someone who lived in Manhattan said this about traveling domestically, it would sound insane right? Your comment comes off the same way
- gehwartzen 3y agoyour doing yourself a disservice judging the US the best country in the world without at least seeing for yourself.
- ultrameow 3y agoI haven't been to every place in the world, but I've been to several outside of the US, and they've been great without exception. I think you should give it a try.
- kanbara 3y agothis sort of attitude is one of the reasons people look at america with disdain. the rest of the world, yes even china, yes even somalia, have culture, history, and knowledge to offer. it’s never appropriate to think one cannot learn from others or try new experiences
- refurb 3y agoOP immigrated from a 3rd world country. They've probably seen way more of the world than most Americans who like to talk about how worldly they are when go see the tourist sites in a place like China.
- rgmerk 3y agoIf you’re sincere, you’re being myopic. The USA is a great place, but there are so many cool things to see and experiences to have that you simply can’t without leaving the country. And, professionally, there’s always new things to learn. Not every good idea in the world originates in Silicon Valley.
- MerelyMortal 3y agoAmerican here. America is a very large country. I have traveled to many places across the world, and while there are interesting and beautiful places elsewhere, there are just as many beautiful and interesting places here in the United States. Travelling internationally is overrated. People forget how enormous the U.S. is and how isolated and beautiful many parts of it is. You're probably getting some downvotes for saying it's the best country, as that is very subjective and depends how you measure. You're also probably getting downvotes because of your dismissive-ness.
