Only problems are major violations of UX:
1. The "+" offers no affordance as to what it does (throws away the current diagram rather than create a new one in a new window).
2. The "+" iconography is inconsistent with its behavior as implying a benign action of "new" when it should be a trashcan for "erase".
3. There's no confirmation before it erases the user's work.
4. One-way flow. There's no undo of "+" to get it back to the previous state.
