I remember around 2006 or so a business magazine had a cover story where they were bullish on Amazon's retail business but downright hostile on their new AWS venture. They called AWS 'stupid' and said everyone knows that there's no money in the hosting business. Now the government wants to break Amazon into pieces and complains profits are too high at AWS.
