This is the thing I wish people would admit: it is all a preference. It's fine if some people want to WFH. It should also be fine if some people don't. Let employers fight to get their employees what their employees want or lose them to one that will. I wish I could work locally but it is no longer possible but I see a lot of benefits that you enjoy too. There is no absolute, just a preference for each person's priorities.
