I kind of disagree, you have engagement statistics on twitter; you're not exactly flying blind. The comments really aren't adding so much in my opinion. Arguably by vacating twitter entirely you have zero feedback which is worse? Just about every news provider in Australia has locked or removed their comment sections and it seems like that's necessary. Rupert Murdoch's outlets have comments open only on uncontroversial articles, and open for a short amount of time only. I don't see the point.
