I guess I'm old school and just have this built in belief that "stuff on the internet" should be free. I have never seriously considered paying for techcrunch or the information or the nyt or the atlantic etc. I just go around them and find the story somewhere else.
- PaulHoule 3y ago... lucky you. Lately archive.today has been putting me in an infinite loop of CAPTCHA hell whenever I try to visit it from home.
- hirundo 3y agoIf stuff on the internet should be free, does that mean that the people who put stuff on the internet should work for free? My salary is paid by internet subscriptions. Enough people pay that I get paid regularly. So since I like getting paid I'm good with not giving away the content that pays for it. The vision of an internet that isn't a business tool is a vision of a much smaller and less relevant internet.
- andrewfromx 3y agoyeah you have a valid point. My old school feeling is maybe just that and I need to get over it!
